To develop & design a Student to campus relation platform to manage, store, track, retrieve, and analyse student-related data. Looking into the various aspects of a data flow system containing dynamic and static data flow through a digital platform with the aspects of learning and living on campus for a student. With those information the focus was to aware students on activities and queries that are faced in and around the campus of a college.

About Project

There are many resources available on an institutional perimeter and many actions are performed between those resources and spaces. These pieces of information are usually found to be a word of mouth or require a process that can only be known after a certain interaction.Sometimes students still get confused to get some official tasks done and the process of takes longer than it should be.

Pre Project
Observation

In the year 2019, the number of Higher Educational Institutions were found to be:-

Universities - 993
Stand alone Institutions - 10,725
Colleges - 39,931

Most of the colleges are found to be operating a student portal platform where the students are provided with information related to their respective campuses and academic curriculum. With such resources being available to students, the portal is found to be lessor unused. The reasons for this are numerous and are mostly related to the functionality and the visual appearance of the portal. In some scenarios, the existence of such digital resources is also unknown to the students. Most portals are web-based and primarily focused to be viewed on larger screens and are designed so. With the increasing use of other portable devices and smaller screens, it becomes inconvenient to view if accessed through devices like smartphones. Many college resources are still found to be unused which is most used by the students on the campus.

For e.g.- campus information and map system, food menu of mess or canteen, lost and found, feed back systems, etc.The alternative solution for dynamic data communication in such institutions is resolved mostly by providing an email service where all the information is provided via emails sent by people.

Opportunity
Mapping

Connecting dots from one point to another. Starting with the word Campus platform. Listing, connecting all the data that could be connected to it. Secondary research was also done to look into all kinds of similar projects or platforms that were relatable to the intentions similar to this project.Mapping the project showed the client to be the institute with3 stakeholders to it -
      • Students
      • Faculties
      • Staff

Looking into all kinds of client’s and stakeholder’s needs, listing all features required it was found that the students in an institution have really broader needs. With the board shown to the anchor, it was pointed to work on the student sector specifically. The students are the biggest stakeholder in this project and they had broader needs. The needs were mostly covered under the umbrella of -
      • Learning in Campus
      • Living in Campus.

Problems Identified

Specifically in India their aren't exactly any mobile apps available. The web portal is customised to be used in desktop and mobile versions. Parallel to this the online e-mail system is also provided where most of the students receive information. There are still problems related to it and rest are also mentioned -

E-mail Spams

Jumbled Information

Desktop versions only available

Physical Resources searching

Inefficient communication

Unguided systems

Missing dynamic information system
